What's Inside Video Game
Music Alliance® 💪️
👋 Welcome! I'm Steven Melin and I'm a dad of 6 kids. Family is everything to me. I choose to work only 20-25 hrs. per week because I only get one shot to be a great dad and impress core values into my children. I love to work, but it comes second to family.
I support my family with a 6-figure annual income composing music for video games. I'd like to show you how to do the same by helping you:
1️⃣ Improve Your Game Music Skills
2️⃣ Start Your Game Music Business
3️⃣ Grow Your Game Music Business
This isn't an academy. This isn't a certification program. This is an opportunity to ensure that you actually reach the video game music goals you've set for yourself in a community that shares the same values and work ethic as you. As a bonus, we do this at the fraction of the cost of attending a college degree program.
I spent $150,000 on my schooling so you don't have to 😱
“You will never maximize your potential in any area without coaching. It is impossible. You may be good. You may even be better than everyone else. But without outside input you will never be as good as you could be. We all do better when somebody is watching and evaluating.”
Just as apprentices have studied under master craftsmen for generations before us, learning the video game music industry is no different. We need each other to succeed. I'd like to be your guide: to show you the quickest possible way to reach your dream destination, all while avoiding the typical pitfalls along the way.
Stability
The average video game soundtrack gig lasts 2-3 years once landed, which means a stable monthly / quarterly paycheck (or milestone payments) throughout the duration of the project. After the game releases, the developer usually hires the same composer to work on the next game, repeating the cycle! The average video game composer only has a few gigs per year and bounces between them.
Passive Income
Aside from project fees, game composers can also negotiate soundtrack royalties and/or a percentage share in the game revenue, generating additional passive income months & years after the game release.
Top 25% Earners
According to the annual GameSound Con survey, freelance game composers earn in the top 25% of all industries. That averages to around $80,000 per year in the United States (slightly less worldwide) and can go upwards of $400,000 at the top level.
Unlike the shaky film, TV, trailer, & commercial music industries (have you seen the recent strikes?), video game music has incredible stability. Here are some quick facts to right-size some common misconceptions about the game music industry.
Flexibility
As a game composer, you can work remotely anywhere in the world (so long as you have an internet connection), choose your own work days / hours, and accept / deny as much work as you see fit. Take as many holidays as you need, so long as you finish your work by deadlines. For a family-first composer, this is an ideal arrangement.
Music Products
Game composers can also create music packs to sell on marketplaces like Unity Asset Store, Fab, Itch.io, & Game Dev Market – all of which can lead to major sales throughout the year (especially holiday seasons) and serendipitous meetings with game developers who want to hire for custom music.
No Degree Required
While a Bachelors or Masters in music can certainly help, there's no data to suggest that a degree is required to be a successful game composer. So long as you can work professionally with a game development team and provide excellent music that enhances the game experience, you can work at professional rates right out of the gate. Your ability to charge high has far more to do with your confidence than experience.
But how do composers land these game soundtrack gigs? For most composers, this is a 3-year journey that includes improving your video game music skills, starting your business, then growing your business.
Monthly Q&A Calls 📅
At VGM Alliance®, community is one of our top priorities. We can't do this journey alone, so we make time to meet together, share ideas, encourage one another, and form meaningful friendships. Numerous times during calls we've had *Aha!* moments, members join forces to tackle a business problem together, or receive incredible advice out of left field from an otherwise silent member.
Think of our Live Q&A Calls like a monthly mastermind – you come with your biggest obstacles and together as a group we help you overcome them...without any ego, elitism, sexism, or any other garbage that usually prevents composers from making real progress. We're all in this together.
At VGM Alliance® we believe that one of the most significant ways to learn about success in the video game music industry is to have regular discussions with the industry leaders themselves. We hold Masterclasses with A-List Video Game Music Composers every 3 months. This is a 2-hour Zoom call where we spend the first hour asking our top questions in an interview style, then switch to member track feedback for the second hour. All questions and tracks are collected from members in advance to ensure that we maximize our time with our guests. All calls are recorded & archived for those who are unable to attend live. Our Masterclasses are designed to inspire you and provide real-world experiences from those who have made their mark in the field. Our members have regularly commented that these Masterclasses are their favorite moments inside VGM Alliance®.

Risk-Free 😌
We've packed a lot into Video Game Music Alliance®. I want you to create the income and the lifestyle that you deserve, but even more than that – I want to guarantee that you don’t fail. To make this a no-brainer deal for you, I’m giving you a 60-Day 100% money-back guarantee with your purchase of Video Game Music Alliance® today.
That’s right. Go through the content, follow the steps, put in the work, and if you don’t love it in the first 60 days of your purchase, send me an email and I’ll refund you immediately. No questions asked, no hard feelings. If VGM Alliance® isn't a good fit for you, I’d prefer that you invest your money where you'll be happier and get results. I want you to succeed at your VGM career!
Do you think I'd still be in business if I gave a crazy guarantee like this and wasn't good at what I did? I'm not guaranteeing that you're going to earn 6-figures after training with us, because I ultimately can't make you do the work. But I am guaranteeing that you'll get $99+ worth of value and service from us at VGM Alliance® every month to support you on your journey. If you don't feel like we gave you that level of service, I'll write you a check the day you tell me we suck.
Decision Time❗
You really only have two options:
You give Pro group a shot, hate it terribly, and request a refund. You get free training and learn that video game music isn't a career path for you. Sounds like a win in my book to save yourself from that nagging "what if..." feeling.
Like our 50+ active members, you fall in love with the content, private coaching, weekly assignments, live events, & community and start to see a wild success story unfold.
The only thing guaranteed not to help you is leaving without making a decision. Either way, zero risk. Nothing to lose. Everything to gain.
The choice is yours! I hope you'll invest in yourself and see what you're made of.
See you inside 🔥
